Soiree for Strays – Call for Artist Submissions
Benefiting Gateway Pet Guardians
What is Soiree for Strays?
Soiree for Strays is an all-media art exhibit and fundraising gala to benefit Gateway Pet Guardians. Soiree for Strays art show is a festive vehicle for local artists to express themselves through animal themes, raise awareness about animal issues and spotlight the relationship between people and their pets. It is also a way for the St. Louis community to enjoy an evening of inspiring, animal-related art, the city’s best live music and a delightful array of refreshments while raising money for a local charity.

Participation is open to all artists. Artwork must be original and have animals, animal issues or pets as the central theme. We invite artists to use our foster dogs as “subjects” for your work, however that is not mandatory. All media will be considered for inclusion. We will also be looking for artists to perform poetry, music, dance and live art for auction.
Deadline for Submissions:
All submissions and proposals for the art exhibit must be received by Friday August 30th. We need photos of your work for the catalog by October 4th.
Sales of Artwork:
This year we will be conducting an online auction which will open and be available to accept bids 1 week prior to the event. GPG will facilitate the event auction. GPG will receive a 70% commission on any artwork sold at the event. We strongly encourage the artists to donate 100% of art sales to GPG and its mission of saving animals lives. GPG will not negotiate price with potential buyers.
All artists will be chosen by the Juror Panel who will review the images and project proposals. Approximately 25 to 30 artists will be selected on relevance to the GPG Mission, originality, quality and presentation. Installations, performance and other works which can’t be sold will be considered by the Juror Panel, but artists are strongly encouraged to submit artwork which can be sold to benefit GPG.
Any selected artwork that differs significantly from the original proposal may not be exhibited. GPG Committee reserves the right to curate this show for quality, space available, adherence to proposal, guidelines stated in application and the Mission Statement. The Committee’s curation decisions are final.
Shipping, handling and delivery of artwork to and from the venue are the artist’s responsibility. Artwork must be delivered on Thursday October 31st. GPG does not provide insurance for artwork.
The GPG Committee will be communicating with artists, performers, volunteers and other participants almost exclusively by email. If you do not have email or limited access to the Internet, please let us know in advance.
