Hello Neighbors!

While the summer was harsh to our gardens, Brightside St. Louis has been kind. Thanks to the efforts of Resident Betty Moore, Chippewa Broadway Bussiness Association and Marine Villa have been awarded a generous Neighbors Naturescaping grant to beautify the intersection of Chippewa Broadway Jefferson. This is  what visitors first see when traveling north on Broadway entering the neighborhoods of Marine Villa, Gravios Park, Benton Park and Benton Park West. Come have fun and play in the dirt for a while!

Starting tomorrow we will have workdays for the next 4 saturdays from 9am until noon each week.

Tomorrow September 22 and next Saturday September 29 we will be weeding trimming and preparing for new plants.

October 6th we will continue this effort and place rocks for 4 plant beds.

October 13th plants will be brought from the green house in forest park to the intersection and be planted. if anyone has a pick up truck and can be on hand at 8am to transport please let us know.

Bring gloves and hand tools if you have them, otherwise we will have some on hand to borrow…no experience necessary!

We would love to know how many volunteers we have each week, send a quick email to betty@mooredesign.com or myself at pamwucher@gmail.com.  Not a planner tha’ts ok too…just show up, we can put you to work.

Many thanks!

“The beauty of the maturation of Cherokee Street over the past couple of months is that it has not shown a familiar trajectory for a St. Louis revitalization. There are no posh nightclubs with "pioneer" status nor any ultra-elite art galleries present.

Rather, there's an organized community dedicated to improving quality of life and maintaining the uniqueness of St. Louis's most diverse and urban business district.”
