“To me it feels like Haight Street or something, there is a special feeling in the air. It may be the history, but I think it may also be the future.”

- Note: The Cherokee People section is currently overloaded. We're working on some tweaks to the site to accomodate the 100+ additional people who have completed the form in the past few months. If you filled out the form, don't worry we have your info and will make the updates in the coming weeks.
Performing arts center? It’s one thing to be a nightclub that serves as little more than a party facilitator for young, disrespectful kids from the suburbs, but it is something else entirely to fabricate cultural credibility by calling it a “performing arts center”. It is delusional, misleading, and an insult to performing art centers everywhere. I live on cherokee, and I see every weekend as wasted, drunk (and very young looking) kids stumble into the streets, screaming and yelling like some sort of frat party upon leaving 2720.
A simple scan of the show listings on their website tell it all: http://2720cherokee.com/
This is not an arts organization. It is not a community oriented business. The proprietors are using cherokee street for a party scene because any neighborhood with more political influence would not tolerate such behavior.
Let’s stop pretending like any activity is good activity on cherokee street. We have the opportunity to build a community that supports the residents of our neighborhood and provides real cultural contribution. I would call for a boycott of 2720, but no one from the neighborhood attends shows there anyway. I think 2720 should be closed down.
What is wrong with you, Lance? Are you a 70 year-old virgin? “This place should be shut down! It is a bunch of young hooligans having fun and participating in shenanigans, it’s bad for the community!” You don’t have better things to do? Really? This is a concert venue. It promotes music and fun. you should probably work on rounding your square-ass edges man. Maybe you would get laid or something.
