Calling all St. Louis Entrepreneurs
Posted by Anne McCullough on August 16, 2012 | 3 Comments
Through the St. Louis County Economic Council’s (SLCEC) Regional Entrepreneurship Initiative, a website will be developed to better connect local entrepreneurs to opportunities in funding, mentoring, learning, events and support of entrepreneurial activity. The site is meant to serve as portal to engage all members of St. Louis region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Your input is highly valuable in defining the types of features, content and tools that will be built into the portal.
Please complete this short (5 minutes) survey in order to weigh in on this important project for St. Louis entrepreneurs. You can find the survey here
The survey must be completed by Friday August 17, 6pm

Despite what others may say, you will build your business, you will do it yourself. If there’s one person an entrepreneur can count on, it’s his or herself.
Hi. Just found your blog today. Could you maybe speak to the current “safety reputation” of Cherokee – perception vs reality? As a STL City native, I always heard “antique row is safe – just don’t cross Jefferson.” It seemed like solid advice since Cherokee does take on a dramatically different “feel” to it. But down there today I noticed that once you cross Jefferson & traverse 5-6 dicey looking blocks it seems to turn into a lovely residential area peppered with new businesses. I visited MoModerne & Tower Taco. I didn’t feel “threatened” in the slightest and found the locals to be colorful & engaging. I just wish I could have met the girl on the pink Vespa with the pink helmet going opposite me in traffic as I drove back home. She looked like a fascinating woman-about-town! I heart Cherokee Street!
I live on Cherokee and my husband has a successful non-retail business on the ground floor of our building. I can say that we love living there and feel like we know our neighbors better than the ones we had when we lived in Chesterfield. I don’t like to walk alone at night, but I didn’t like to do that in our Chesterfield subdivision, either. I AM, however, perfectly comfortable walking my dog on Cherokee and through the surrounding neighborhood. We love walking the length of Cherokee between Jefferson and Gravois. There is always something interesting to see and do. We would probably go further if not for the heavier traffic on those two streets.
