Apopaganda

Well, the Binge and Purge Grand Opening last weekend went swimmingly! Ridiculous: items bought, bouffants coifed, bustiers flaunted, bands played, booze drank, party danced, concussions had. All the bands were great, and we were lucky enough to have 3 of STL’s latest up and coming new bands play: Joe and Mabel’s short but sweet 2 piece no wave, the hypnotic motor-musik sounds of Bikini Acid, and the undeniable Pink Sock who gave an incredible set full of pure dada punk. You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen a trio of teenage hand-drummers attempt unison blast beat.

This upcoming Saturday the 4th is the Cherokee Street Open House. All day long most of the nifty businesses here will be housing sales and bands and other such fantastic varieties of tempting action for your amuse and bemusement.

April is Apop’s birthday month and on the 11th will be celebrating 5 years in business hard with a killer In store show:
SATURDAY, APRIL 11th:

C. SPENCER YEH
(Masterful Solo Violin + Vocal Pieces | Burning Star Core | Cincinnati, OH)
WASTELAND JAZZ UNIT
(Total Inzane Free Jazz Scuzz with Electronics | Cincinnati, OH)
THE HUMAN QUENA ORCHESTRA
(Swans-esque rough industrial sludge with an expanded psych note, Six Points, PA, Crucial Blast Records)
RAGLANI
(Lush Sine Waves of Love and Tragedy | Kranky Records | St. Louis, MO)

Amazing. You can’t miss it.

Contuing the celebration, on the 18th is Record Store Day. Apop will be hosting live music, special one day sales and a few rare items will be unearthed from our archives to beckon your attention and to thank everyone for supporting their awesome local and independent record shop.

As far as recent arrivals, we have a really great selection of used CDs right now; especially of the experimental and noisy variety.

If you’re looking for something a little more fancy, than we can help you out with several new uber-luxe Vinyl on Demand lp box sets and the Michigan noise comp vinyl box.
The Herman Nitsch box is especially lovely with a nitsch illustration printed on the front of a 4 inch deep grey stained wooden box. Inside are several lps of his drone, organ and minimal pieces performed at his Austrian Castle.

As always, these items and more can be found in our online catalog, so if you’re interested shoot us a message and we’ll get summa dis jam out to you via post. Our new shopping cart system is still in the process of dekink, so bear with us until it gets fluid. The meantime, http://apop.gemm.com/, or check us out on GEMM, Music Stack, CD and LP, Choosebooks and a few other select online venues.
