Production Assistant Needed

Posted by Bill Chott on September 25, 2009 | Leave a Comment

Circus(2)

The Improv Trick is seeking a Production Assistant or Intern for a video project for a multinational company. There’s no pay for this position, but a chance to learn, develop professional contacts, and work with a talented and creative team that includes a well-known Hollywood actor. Experience helpful, but the desire to learn, gain experience, and work as an integral part of the team is more important. And, of course, you’ll be fed. This series of videos will be shot between September 28 and October 18. A flexible schedule and availability during that time period is important. Please send an e-mail with your production experience and training, and general availability, to: michael_ketcher@ yahoo.com.

SAT * OCT 3 * @ CAMP

<BOOKS, BIKES, COSTUMES, MIRRORS, ODDITIES, PRACTICALITIES>

You know the sweaty satisfaction “before and after” a  courageous clean-out job, whether a grimy set of latrines or the walk-in closet full of skeletons you’ve been well-meaning to attend to for months. Well: imagine the sheer, elated relief over at CAMP to have persistently plowed thru the chock full subterranean storage chambers of 7 years of dumpster-diving-loving, idealistic-chaos-of-project-could-be’s.  We did it! And we’re celebrating! A clean slate, a clear head. A “let’s go”.

SciFest at the Science Center

I know that this isn’t taking place in the neighborhood, but I thought that there may be interest from our community for a few of the sessions, particularly the ones focus on Urban Sustainable Living – hosted by Patti Moreno, there is also a session about the Colony collapse syndrome that has hit the honeybee population hard in recent years.

See below for a link to the schedule. I have coupons available for admission of anyone is interested, just let me know.

Upcoming Neighborhood Elections

Posted by Jason Deem on September 13, 2009 | 5 Comments

Neighborhood association elections are right around the corner and unless you live in Gravois Park, now is your chance to get involved.  Neighborhood associations play a critical role in connecting local issues to the larger city political process. They also provide a regular place & time to check in with your neighbors, alderman, police, and local resources as well as a formal mechanism for making local decisions in a democratic way.  The more fresh ideas and new neighbors that join the conversation, the more interesting the solutions and collaborations that emerge.  If you’ve been thinking about getting involved and running for an elected position, now’s the time.  Even if you’re not considering running for an elected position, it’s important to make sure your membership dues have been paid up by the deadlines below to ensure voting eligibility.  Here’s pertinent information for the associations surrounding Cherokee. . .
