Saturday, April 10 is our designated Blitz day. Project Blitz is simply a city-wide clean-up effort. It’s your chance to contribute to the improvement of Marine Villa. What may seem like no big deal is actually the foundation of what makes the best neighborhoods in Saint Louis. People notice clean streets. They also notice those that are out doing the cleaning and showing that their neighborhood is cared for.

Join us at Foam on Monday, April 5th, at 7pm for a drink or two. Oh, and you don’t have to live in Marine Villa to join us…we play well with all of our Cherokee neighbors.

P.S.-
If you haven’t done so already, find us on Facebook and become a fan to get the latest updates from Marine Villa.

The next Marine Villa Neighborhood Association meeting is Monday, March 22, at 7:00 pm. Remember, come at 6:30 if you want to meet with police and NSOs.

This month’s guest speaker is Connie Backfisch of Dutchtown South Community Corporation, and the topic is the 2010 Census. Completing the census is very important. Saint Louis receives tax money for every resident counted, so make sure you’re counted. All residents who attend the meeting and turn in their completed census form will be entered to win a $25 grocery store gift card. Don’t miss your chance to win!

The MVNA meetings are held at the Monroe School at 3641 Missouri. The parking lot is accessible from Indiana at Miami. This month, we will meet in the library, which is on the second floor. Elevators are available near the cafetaria (enter through door #5 by the parking lot).

Meetings are open to all residents. You do not have to be a paid member to show your support for your neighborhood. If you have interest in making Marine Villa a better place to live, we would love to see you at the meeting!

Minutes from last month’s general meeting and this month’s board meeting are available on the MVNA website.

Good Morning,

I hope everyone is enjoying these sunny days! As many of you know the October Meeting included elections for the new board and was also a celebration of the 40th anniversary of MVNA.  Thank you to all that participated and for the sweets you brought to share.

Work Day is scheduled for this Saturday October 10th starting at 9am.

Meet at the fountain area at the intersection of Chippewa/Broadway/Jefferson.

The Chippewa Broadway Business Association and Marine Villa has been awarded the Neighbors Naturescaping grant from Operation Brightside.  Last weekend we were lucky enough to have nearly 80 college students from SLUH volunteer to prep the median for this upcoming weekends planting. Weeds have been pulled and the soil tested, the area is now ready to recieve the 350 plants that will provide a fantastic display of color this spring and summer and what an incredible entrance to all of our neighborhoods.

A firehouse work day is scheduled for 9am on Saturday, Sept. 19th.  Mulch will be delivered prior to Sat.

Please bring Rakes and Shovels to help spread the mulch, any weeding tools, a wheel barrow would be great.  I will have bags for any trash or weeds.

9am, saturday, sept. 19th, Old firehouse at salena and Broadway.

Come out meet your neighbors and help make Marine Villa a beautiful place to live and visit!

See you Saturday,

Neighborhood association elections are right around the corner and unless you live in Gravois Park, now is your chance to get involved.  Neighborhood associations play a critical role in connecting local issues to the larger city political process. They also provide a regular place & time to check in with your neighbors, alderman, police, and local resources as well as a formal mechanism for making local decisions in a democratic way.  The more fresh ideas and new neighbors that join the conversation, the more interesting the solutions and collaborations that emerge.  If you’ve been thinking about getting involved and running for an elected position, now’s the time.  Even if you’re not considering running for an elected position, it’s important to make sure your membership dues have been paid up by the deadlines below to ensure voting eligibility.  Here’s pertinent information for the associations surrounding Cherokee. . .

Many thanks to Mike Ferguson, Bill Daniel, James McKee and Craig Schmid for making this Saturdays clean up day a success.  The gardens are now weed free, roses bushes are trimmed and full of blooms for the entire neighborhood to enjoy!  Thanks for all your hard work and thanks to Bill for his beautifull photographs.  Check them out on the MV website or go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/marinevilla/
